Wow….It is Beginning to Look Like an Airplane

A lot of work has taken place over the last week or so.  The empennage is nearing completion as we await notification that the fuselage has shipped.  Great job everyone.

More Hours

We added 54.5 hours to the build over the period 3/31-4/11 finishing the horizontal stab.and are well along on the tail cone.

Saturday 4-2-2016

What do you do after  a great Pancake Breakfast and program?  You go down to the “Bishop Education Center” and work on the RV-12!!  The horizontal stabilizer is really coming along.

And the beat goes on……

The threat of rain did not stop Duane Huff, Joel Levine, Louis Pucci, John Morgan, John Bongart, Gordon Fowlkes and Fred Huppertz from turning out to work on the RV-12 today.  More progress on the horizontal stabilizer.

More Progress Being Made

Great progress continues to be made on the empennage of the RV-12.  Several guys got together Thursday and Friday to continue work on the horizontal stabilizer.  Vans has given us a crating date of May 9th for the fuselage.

A Beautiful Day to Build

Saturday turned out to be a great day to build.  The day started with a Young Eagle event that saw EAA 690 and its volunteers fly 23 young folks. We had seven pilots flying five planes and finished up around 11:00am,  We flew a group from a local Boy Scout Troop that spent Friday night …

Fuselage on Order

Since we are making good progress, the fuselage kit has been ordered as of yesterday, 3/16.  We’ll keep you up to date on the details as they become known. Thanks to all of those that have put time in on this project.  I hope everyone is learning and that wee can get more folks involved …

Next Step

We’re making great progress on the empennage.  Van’s currently shows lead times of 8 weeks for the wing and fuselage kits.  The wing kit is $6,405 plus shipping and the fuselage kit is $5,595 plus shipping.  We currently have just over $5,800 in the RV-12 fund.  We’ll need to raise some more money to get …

Build Session 3/8/2016

We started the rudder assembly today and match drilled the skeleton parts, deburred, & scotchbrited them. After  wiping down with acetone, Gordo primed and hung up to dry. John Kimmons, Joel Levine, Gordon Fowlkes, Rich Hopkins, John Morgan, Ron Brown ( who brought tools from Dave Henderson’s build), John Bongart, Jerry Fischer
