A Beautiful Day to Build

Saturday turned out to be a great day to build.  The day started with a Young Eagle event that saw EAA 690 and its volunteers fly 23 young folks. We had seven pilots flying five planes and finished up around 11:00am,  We flew a group from a local Boy Scout Troop that spent Friday night and Saturday at our hangar working on their aviation merit badge.  The predicted weather never materialized and everything worked out well.

Once Young Eagles was complete a large group proceeded to the Bishop Education Center to work on the RV-12. The project is moving forward fairly quickly and a lot of chapter members have been involved.  The fuselage has been ordered at this point and we expect to get notification of the ship date soon.

Fuselage on Order

Since we are making good progress, the fuselage kit has been ordered as of yesterday, 3/16.  We’ll keep you up to date on the details as they become known.

Thanks to all of those that have put time in on this project.  I hope everyone is learning and that wee can get more folks involved as we move forward.

Next Step

We’re making great progress on the empennage.  Van’s currently shows lead times of 8 weeks for the wing and fuselage kits.  The wing kit is $6,405 plus shipping and the fuselage kit is $5,595 plus shipping.  We currently have just over $5,800 in the RV-12 fund.  We’ll need to raise some more money to get the next kit on order soon.
